Lori Schenck, Assistant Director of Services, introduced our club to Camp Oakhurst, located in Oakhurst.  It was established in 1906 by parents of children with disabilities.  At that time it provided an opportunity to get out of the city into the fresh air of the country. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for children and adults with special needs, including autism and physical and intellectual disabilities, and provide respite for their families through a year-round camp experience.  Being fully accessible and having 15 acres to explore, gives campers with a variety of capabilities an opportunity to have a true camp experience.  For more information, see their website: www.nysh.org or contact Lori at 732.531.0215 or lschenck@nysh.org.
