Last Wednesday’s Guest Speaker, Bruce Buckley, CEO of SOLDIER ON, gave an outstanding overview of a new 23 Million Dollar facility now under construction by this organization in Tinton Falls. Created in New England in 1994, SOLDIER ON is dedicated to serving veterans who have found themselves in homeless situations and need help. This new building on Essex Road near “Seabrook” will provide 70 one bedroom units to area homeless veterans. There are 400,000 veterans in New Jersey with some disabled and/or without a permanent housing. This will be the 7th building that Soldier On has created. The land was donated by the Borough of Tinton Falls. The name of this full service facility will be known as The Gordon H Mansfield Veterans Village at Tinton Falls, to be completed October 2021.
Soldier On has provided a wide variety of services for homeless veterans from daily meals, job training and placement, temporary housing, counseling and medical services to name a few. The organization receives funding and grants from a variety of government agencies in support of veteran affairs and needs. Private contributions also support Soldier On. Keep your eye on this one. Outstanding organization.
