Deal Lake Watershed Alliance

Deal Lake Watershed Alliance (DLWA) Chair Laura McBride discussed the alliance which is a non profit 501(c)3 allowing the group to raise funds for the restoration and maintenance of the lake.

It was founded in 2018 and is different from the Deal Lake Commission in that they are able to raise funds for docks, lakeside parks and boat access.

Deal Lake, the largest coastal lake, measures 4440 acres,  borders 7 communities..

McBride said the alliance presents seminars for residents to construct personal rain gardens, which filters storm water naturally before it reaches the lake.

The DLWA has about 500 members. Residents can join the alliance by visiting www.dlwanj.org and donating $5.
