Asbury Park Rotarians welcomed the return of Gina Hagerman, Assistant Principal, and Greg Colón, Career Pathways Coordinator, who shared with us the Academies being introduced as educational alternatives at Ocean Township High School (OTHS).  Using a grant received from the State of New Jersey, the first of three Academies was launched this academic year.  Spartan School of Business and Finance, received 35 student participants in this program that partners with Georgian Court University.  September 2018 will be the start date for the Spartan School of Technology, whose program partners with NJIT, and in the fall of 2019 Spartan School of Visual and Performing Arts will be launched.  These programs offer students a variety of options for focus during their high school years, and give students a head-start by providing college credits.  Each is a four-year program, but these do not replace the standard high school curriculum.  OTHS is seeking businesses who can provide the internships or apprenticeships which are part of the program.  If you are interested or want more information contact Greg at: gcolon@oceanschools.org or 732-531-5650, ext. 1400.
