Our fellow rotarian, Carol Delia is the Board Chair of Pinwheel Place, New Jersey's only licensed crisis nursery, celebrating its grand opening!

Some people see a family struggling and think, "Someone should do something."
Rotary Club of Asbury Park member Carol Delia is one of the people who DOES something. And that “something” goes above and beyond!..
As Board Chair of Pinwheel Place, New Jersey's only licensed crisis nursery, Carol brings 20 years of nonprofit work and fundraising to a mission that gives FREE emergency childcare, diapers and baby essentials to NJ families. Children from newborn to age 6 are cared for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Imagine a medical emergency. A job interview. A court appointment. And a parent who needs a little breathing room but has nobody to watch her baby. Pinwheel Place is where she can turn. Even diapers can be a gatekeeper: most daycares require a full day's supply just to take a child in, and without daycare, a parent can't go to work.
On Saturday, October 24th, the doors opened on the new Pinwheel Place Baby Pantry and playground in Eatontown! Founder Lynn Hawkins, who made this safe haven a reality in 2019 with her daughter Quady, was surrounded by a team of volunteers whose smiles and helping hands made the day special. Christina, weeks away from welcoming her own baby, poured her energy into other families. Dave shared the story behind Pinwheel and welcomed every guest. Together, with Carol's organizational skills steering the ship, they showed what a community can do when everyone gives a little of themselves.
That is the spirit of giving, and the spirit of true Rotarians. 💚
Keeping the childcare free takes real money and real people willing to show up. Donate at pinwheelplace.org/donate, send diapers and baby supplies through the Pinwheel Place Target wish list, host a diaper drive, or volunteer.
