Club Member HJ Abrecht enlightened those at the Feb. 26 about the practices and benefits of yoga and meditation.

HJ is a certified Yogi and holds classes in her home where husband Russell built her a studio.

She said yoga is good for balance both physically and mentally and gave definitions used in the practice starting with Namaste, which means I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells “we are one.”

She also spoke about karma, ohms or mantras which calm the mind and the 7 chakras and the colors that represent them.

HJ then led the group in a lesson on yoga breathing which calms the mind and body and lowers blood pressure, followed by a session of chair yoga and stretching.

The main takeaways for the day - Be calm, be peaceful… happiness is an inside job.
